Citizenship is in fact lost when it has renounced the nationality, and its exercise can be suspended by a court decision in cases determined by law. Those who have been suspended in the exercise of citizenship, may apply for their rehabilitation. PARAGRAPH. While the law does not decide another age, citizenship shall be exercised from the age of eighteen. ARTICLE 99. The quality of citizen in exercise is indispensable prior condition to exercise the right to vote, to be elected and to hold public office bearing attached authority or jurisdiction.
CHAPTER III ALIENS ARTICLE 100. Aliens shall enjoy in Colombia the same civil rights that are granted to Colombians. However, the law may, for reasons of public order, make subject to special conditions or deny the exercise of certain civil rights to foreigners. Likewise, foreigners shall enjoy in the territory of the Republic, of the guarantees granted to nationals, except for the limitations established the Constitution or the law.
